The Everson Museum of Art and the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville are partnering to bring you an art-themed book club right at home, in the car, on the trail, or camping in a tent in the woods. Wherever you are right now, you can enjoy a fascinating book and join the discussion on Zoom from your computer, tablet, or phone! Presented by the docents of the Everson, this social book club is open to adults and seniors looking to have a relaxing chat about a thrilling topic from the world of art.

We are reading What the Ermine Saw: The Extraordinary Journey of Leonardo da Vinci’s Most Mysterious Portrait by Eden Collinsworth for the August session. Five hundred and thirty years ago, a young woman sat before a Grecian-nosed artist known as Leonardo da Vinci. Her name was Cecilia Gallerani, and she was the young mistress of Ludovico Sforza, duke of Milan. When the portrait was finished, Leonardo’s brush strokes had conveyed something deeper by revealing the essence of Cecilia’s soul. Even today, The Woman with an Ermine manages to astonish. Readers will marvel at Eden Collinsworth’s dexterous story that illuminates the eventful history of this unique masterpiece, as it journeyed from one owner to the next.
