Walt Whitman is an iconic New York poet whose radical poem “Song Of
Myself” expresses the joy of inclusivity and democracy in the Americas.
Whitman on Walls! (WoW!) is a drive-in movie meets poetry slam produced
by theater company Compagnia de’ Colombari. Seven short films inspired
by Walt Whitman, created by 50 living poets across the globe, will be
screened on the facade of the Everson followed by local poets who “talk
back to Whitman” in their own words, challenging or quarreling with him,
weaving together film and live recitation.
