The Trip Committee is offering a special spring treat - three days exploring outstanding art, interesting architecture, gorgeous spring gardens, fresh seafood and Mystic Seaport. The first day will begin with a lunch at Hill-Stead in Farmington, CT, following by an estate tour. Hill-Stead is one of the finest Colonial revival houses remaining in the United States and contains a collection of Impressionist painting, ceramics, antique furniture, and an English style garden.

The second day of the trip will begin with a guided tour of the Lyman Allyn Museum in New London, CT. The Museum has a collection of American Art, as well as a collection of antique dolls, toys and doll houses. Following the museum, we will visit the Caroline Black Botanical Gardens, which will be ablaze with flowers in the spring. The last stop of the day will be the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, where we will have lunch, and a guided tour of the Museum and restored “grandmother’s style” gardens. The Lyme Artist’s Colony, which became the core of American Impressionism, was formed here in the early 20th century. The Museum offers a rare opportunity to see the works of American Impressionists in the context of the place where they actually painted. We will enjoy dinner that evening at an Inn that has been in continuous use since before the American Revolution.

The final day in Connecticut will be spent at the Mystic Seaport where we will enjoy a group tour of the maritime art collection, a self guided tour of the seaport, and lunch on our own.
