EVERSON ANNOUNCES PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS DURING WINTER SCHOOL RECESS
SYRACUSE, NY (January 11, 2016) – The Everson Museum of Art announces it is now accepting registrations for programs offered during the mid-winter school break. Take a Break! is a flexible format, general art program for children ages 5 – 12, while Digital Photography for Teens is an in-depth offering for students ages 13 – 17.
The popular Take a Break! program runs February 16 – 19, with two sessions each day. The morning sessions takes place 10.00am – Noon and afternoon sessions are 1.00 – 3.00pm. The cost per child, per session, is $8 for Everson members and $10 for non-members. Participants can sign up for just one session or the entire week! Pre-registration is required.
Each day will hold a different themed activity to engage young artists. By viewing exhibitions in the galleries, learning about art movements and techniques and experiencing a variety of materials, participants will discover and create their own works of art. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Digital Photography for Teens is a hands-on photography class that will help students develop a creative perspective while learning various techniques. Participants will produce work in a professional photo lab, explore the galleries and visit the Armory Square district of downtown Syracuse for inspiration. Digital cameras and all supplies will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own digital camera to class if they have one. This program runs from 9.00am – 3.00pm, Tuesday, February 16 – Friday, February 19. The cost is $150 for Everson members, and $185 for non-members. Pre-registration is required.
Scholarships are available on a limited basis for youth and teen classes and are made possible by a grant from the Teen Funders of the Jewish Community Foundation of Central New York.
