Everson Museum Announces New Board Appointments
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Everson Museum of Art has announced seven new board appointments and a new slate of officers for 2019, including incoming board chair, Jessica Danial. Together with Museum director Elizabeth Dunbar, Danial will help steer the Museum’s strategic course for the next two years. Danial’s appointment marks the first time two women have concurrently held CEO and board chair positions at the Museum.
“The depth of knowledge, resources and support that these new members bring to the Museum is invaluable,” says Elizabeth Dunbar, Everson Museum Director & CEO. “We are honored to welcome this group of experienced and committed leaders to the board, and are grateful for their support as we work to make modern and contemporary art accessible to everyone in the Syracuse community.”
Comprised of leaders with diverse and deep levels of experience from the art, government, business, higher education, and architecture & design sectors, the Board of Trustees provides advice and counsel to Museum leadership related to programs, initiatives, and opportunities positioned to advance the Museum’s mission.
New Officers, 2019-2020
Jessica Danial, Chair
Jessica Danial has over a decade of experience in trend intelligence and business development having worked extensively in New York City for London-based research firm, Stylus. She moved to Syracuse in 2013 and now holds a master’s degree in art leadership from Syracuse University in addition to a bachelors in communications from the University of South Florida.
Michael P. Falcone, Vice Chair
Michael P. Falcone is Chairman of the Board/Chief Executive Officer of Pioneer Companies, a division of CP Realty Company, headquartered in Syracuse. Falcone is a graduate of Georgetown University and have a bachelors in English Literature.
Craig Boise, Vice Chair
Craig Boise is Dean and Professor of Law at Syracuse University College of Law. Before arriving in Syracuse in 2016, he was Dean and Joseph C. Hostetler-Baker Chair in Law at Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Ryan McDermott, Treasurer
Ryan McDermott is Vice President of Commercial Banking at M&T Bank. He received his MBA from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University and is a graduate of Leadership Greater Syracuse.
Catherine Winger, Secretary
Retired from a career in mental health services, Cathy Winger is a longtime Everson supporter, avid traveler, and dedicated community volunteer.
New Trustees, 2019-2021
Katya Bratslavksy
Katya Bratslavksy is a self-taught artist whose work has been featured in several exhibitions. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Katya lives in Syracuse with her family and holds a master’s degree in educational psychology and statistics.
William Fisher
William Fisher is the former Deputy Onondaga County Executive. An Onondaga County native, Fisher is also a Yale University alumnus and holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship.
Greg Loh, Ex officio, representing Mayor Ben Walsh
Greg Loh is Director of City Initiatives for the City of Syracuse. Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office, he was Executive Vice President/Managing Director of Public Relations and Public Affairs for Eric Mower + Associates, where he served in various capacities for nearly three decades.
Anthony Malavenda
Anthony Malavenda is the director at Duke’s Root Control, Inc. Born and raised in Central New York, he received his bachelor’s degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
Kate Nutting
Kate Nutting is a principal architect and managing member at VIP Architectural Associates, PLLC (VIPAA). She serves on VIP’s Senior Leadership Team and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, Syracuse University School of Architecture Board, and Women’s President’s Organization.
Simon Perez
Simon Perez is an associate professor of Broadcast & Digital Journalism at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. His work has been recognized with two Emmy awards and the Syracuse University Excellence in Graduate Education Faculty Recognition Award.
Doug Sedgwick
Doug Sedgwick is the president of Sedgwick Business Interiors. His company has earned top performance awards from Cornell University, Army Corps of Engineers, and the nationwide Best in Class and Leadership awards from Herman Miller.
