Job Title: Manager of K-12 and Family Programs, Full-time
Salary: $50,000 Annually
Hours: 37.5 Hours Weekly, Non-exempt
Must be available some nights and weekends, based on program schedule

The Everson Museum of Art seeks a full-time Manager of K-12 and Family Programs to provide programmatic and administrative support for the Museum’s growing educational and public programs. The Manager of K-12 and Family Programs reports to the Director of Learning and Engagement and works with museum staff, interns, volunteer docents, and contracted artists and teachers to support program initiatives, including outreach, youth and adult classes, workshops, and a wide variety of community programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates on-site and virtual tours for school groups and community organizations, interfacing directly with local K-12 schools.
  • Coordinates and executes community-wide outreach initiatives, working with other local nonprofits, community centers, and public agencies.
  • Serves as the Everson point of contact for the docent organization, which includes recruitment, training, and scheduling, as well as the development of teaching and training materials.
  • Plans school break camps, educational classes and workshops, special community days, and public programs related to special exhibitions and collections.
  • Occasional teaching of youth and adult classes and leading of tours.
  • Conducts ongoing research into innovative 21st-century best practices for K-12 and adult museum education.
  • Organizes and facilitates the Everson Teen Arts Council program, working collaboratively with Museum staff.
  • Assists in the creation of interpretive materials in conjunction with the exhibitions, including educator resource materials, iPad presentations, family guides, gallery guides, and audio tours.
  • Managers’ registrations and all participant communications for educational classes and workshops, working within the museum database.
  • Assists Director of Learning and Engagement to coordinate intern program, including recruitment initiatives.
  • Assists Director of Learning and Engagement to develop program calendar.
  • Responds to community inquiries.
  • Keeps educator and consultant contact databases current.
  • Manages hiring logistics and conducts background checks for K through 12 educators and coordination with Human Resources.
  • Overseas maintenance, inventory, and organization of educational materials for classes, programs, and equipment and the Danial Family Education Center, including kilns, pug mill and sink drainage systems and safety associated with use of this equipment.
  • Incorporates inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility principles into day-to-day responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience in art education, museum studies, Fine Arts or related fields required.
  • Demonstrated experience with public programs.
  • Experience working with K through 12 students.
  • Experience with lesson planning and curriculum development
  • Knowledge of museums and/or other non-profit organizations, structures and processes.
  • Knowledge of CRMs and/or registration systems, or willingness and ability to learn.
  • Ability to work a schedule that supports the learning and engagement department, including some flexible and variable hours, such as weekends and evenings.
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within and beyond the institution.
  • Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail, including ability to work on multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ceramics studio management experience a plus!

Job Title: Miron Fellow for Learning & Engagement
Status: Full Time, Non-exempt, 37.5 hours weekly, benefits eligible
Reports to: Director of Learning & Engagement

Fixed-Term: through August, 31, 2027
Salary: $20/hr

The Miron Fellow for Learning & Engagement is an early-career opportunity for emerging museum professionals to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in public programming, community engagement, and arts education. Working closely with the Director of Learning & Engagement and the Manager of K-12 & Family Programs, the Fellow will support the planning, administration, and implementation of educational programs, including lectures, tours, workshops, and special events. The Fellow will also contribute to special projects such as developing gallery-based interpretive materials, facilitating Teen Arts Council initiatives, and designing outreach activities.

Job Description

EDUCATION PROGRAMS & EVENTS

  • Collaborate with staff to develop exhibition-related and gallery-based interpretive materials,  including family guides and tour booklets
  • Co-develop and facilitate Teen Arts Council programming
  • Develop and lead educational activities and art-making experiences for outreach visits and school tours, in collaboration with staff and volunteer docents
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of programs such as workshops, tours, lectures, and artist talks
  • Support general program facilitation as needed
  • Create support materials for public programs, tours, and outreach activities
  • Support program development through collaborative research and brainstorming

ADMINISTRATION & EVALUATION

  • Coordinate booking, scheduling, invoicing, and communications for tour and outreach experiences
  • Create internal calendar events, manage registration forms, and run reports using Veevart
  • Manage event participant information and records
  • Develop and distribute follow-up surveys for program participants and partners
  • Collect and maintain attendance records, event reports, and partner contact information
  • Draft program agreement forms and gather required information from external partners
  • Support inventory tracking and ordering of Education Center supplies
  • Respond to community inquiries
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training and experience in art education, museum studies, fine arts, education, or related field required. This position is intended for recent graduates within 1-2 years of undergraduate or graduate study.
  • Some experience with public programs or working with K-12 audiences is preferred
  • Knowledge of classroom management and facilitation strategies
  • Familiarity with museums or non-profit organizations, structures, and processes is helpful
  • Willingness and ability to work with databases and/or registration systems
  • Strong team player, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively within and beyond the institution
