Bring Art to Life for your Community.
Help make art accessible and approachable at the Everson! By becoming a Volunteer Docent, you will enhance the experience of students and community members.
Steps:
- Meet the Learning and Engagement Team to assess goals and availability
- Attend docent training twice per month
- Shadow two tours
- Give one solo tour shadowed by an experienced docent or Museum staff
- Debrief with Museum staff and assess if you are ready to lead your own tours
- Sign up for one outreach activity
Short-Term Docents:
- Offered in the Fall (September–December) or in Spring (January–May)
- Minimum Required Time: 4 Months (1 semester)
- Minimum One Tour Per Week
- Required to regularly attend On-going Trainings
- Payment of $10 for docent dues
- After your four-month mark, a meeting will be arranged with the Learning and Engagement department to exchange feedback and assess extending your commitment if you feel inclined.
Long-Term Docents:
- Minimum Required Time: One year
- Minimum of Two Tours Per Month
- Required to attend all docent meetings and ongoing training
- Payment of $30 for docent dues
- Must maintain Museum membership, which grants you a 20% discount on paid programs.
The Learning and Engagement department will conduct regular check-ins with volunteers to review both personal growth and level of commitment.
