The Everson Members’ Council Celebrates 60 Years

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, the Everson Museum of Art’s Members’ Council celebrated 60 years of service. This volunteer arm of the Everson is comprised of an energetic group of individuals who act as ambassadors for the Everson, and organize various outreach and fundraising efforts that support the Museum.

The evening included a cocktail hour in the Everson’s iconic Sculpture Court followed by an autumn dinner in the Green Room provided by Eden restaurant in Downtown Syracuse. Dinner was served on pieces from the recently acquired Rosenfield Collection, a bevy of over 3,000 pieces of ceramic art gifted from the private collection of dedicated Everson supporter Louise Rosenfield. These pieces brought out for this special occasion will soon be incorporated into the dining experience at Louise, the Everson’s new restaurant opening in early 2022.

Remarks given by the current Members’ Council president Pattie Miller, Everson director Elizabeth Dunbar, and ceramics curator Garth Johnson underscored the integral contributions of Members’ Council over the years. A special keynote presentation was provided by Syracuse University professor and Everson board member James Haywood Rolling and was titled, Museums as a Site for Creative Leadership and Anti-Racist Interventions.
