Join tattooist and traditional artist Jamie Santos for a workshop that explores a brief history of four diverse prominent female tattooists from the late 1800’s to now and provides instruction in tattoo design and a tattoo demonstration!
You’ll learn about tattoo artists Maud Wagner, Millie Hill, Jacci Gresham, and Whang Od Oggay.
With pencil, paper, and ink, Jamie will take you through the step-by-step process of designing a tattoo based on traditional American style tattoo art. By the end of the class, you will have completed your very own basic flash sheet on paper.
A final visual demonstration in tattooing on fake skin will provide an up close look into the tattooing process.
All materials will be included, and participants may bring their own colored pencils and micron markers. No tattooing supplies will be provided, students should not expect to tattoo at this class.
About the Artist
Jamie Santos (@jamiesantosart) is a Syracuse, NY tattoo artist of seventeen years and owns Three of Swords Tattoo & Art Studio. Santos is mainly known for her tattoo work and formerly curating civic art shows and events in the CNY region in partnership with local businesses and organizations. Jamie is a published artist, painter, graphic artist, and all around Jill of all trades!
