Ikebana is the centuries-old Japanese art of arranging flowers.

This workshop will give you a taste of Ikebana.

Jia Man will introduce the basic principles, history, and philosophy of Ikebana in an easy-to-understand way and explore different Ikebana styles.

In addition to learning techniques of Ikebana, the workshop will focus on mindfulness and relaxation. Students will be encouraged to approach their arrangement with a sense of calm and peace.

About Jia Man

jia manJia is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Chinese and Japanese Language and East Asian Culture at Le Moyne College. In addition to her academic work, Jia is an accomplished practitioner of Japanese Ikebana (Zen flower arrangement) and Chinese and Japanese Calligraphy.

She is a member of Ikebana International NY and joined the Paris and London Ikebana International show in person in summer 2022 and has been selected for the 2023 online shows by Ikebana International NY and Delhi Ikebana International.
