Youth Story Competition
Summer 2023
The Everson Museum of Art and Syracuse University’s MFA Program in Creative Writing presented a writing contest for 6–12 year old and 13–18 year old in two genres: poetry, and short fiction.
Students composed pieces in response to an artwork from the Everson’s Off the Rack exhibition, which highlight hundreds of painting and drawings from the Everson’s permanent collection.
Students’ compositions were judged by Kathryn Bratt-Pfotenhauer, 3rd year Poet in Syracuse University’s MFA Program in Creative Writing, Teresa Ott, 2nd year Poet in Syracuse University’s MFA Program in Creative Writing, and Everson curators. All students will receive constructive feedback, and prizes will include exciting items from an array of community-minded partners!
Competition is open until November 13, 2023.
