11:00am –2:00pm
Admission: Pay-What-You-Wish!

Join us for a family-friendly Community Day at the Everson Museum! This special event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate art and creativity together, featuring the inspiring work of local artist Manuel Matias. Raised in New York City’s Lower East Side during the 1980s and 1990s, Matias found solace in art amidst the challenges of his environment. His exhibition, “Alphabet City Chronicles,” showcases miniature tableaus that reflect the disappearing streetscapes of his childhood, infused with humor, activism, and social commentary.

Event Highlights:

  • Free Make & Take Art Kits: Participating guests will be invited to sit and create their miniature artwork using the materials in their box along with communal art tools like scissors and glue. Inspired by the artwork of Manuel Matias, guests will be encouraged to create a unique piece of art inspired by their own meaningful memories. Kits are available from 11 AM to 2 PM, or while supplies last.
  • Pay-What-You Wish-Admission: Explore our galleries and enjoy the latest exhibitions, including the captivating “Alphabet City Chronicles” by Manuel Matias, at a price you choose.

We are proud to partner with La Casita Cultural Center as we share and celebrate the art of Manuel Matias.
