Join Everson curators as they discuss the groundbreaking programs and exhibitions that made the 1970s a transformative decade for the Museum. From hosting Yoko Ono’s first solo museum exhibition to hiring the first video art curator in the country, the Everson underwent a profound decade of change and growth, emerging as a major force in the contemporary art world.
This event is presented in conjunction with the current exhibition It Came from the ’70s, which explores the radical changes in the field of ceramics during the decade. On view through April 30, the exhibition showcases groovy works from the Everson collection that reflect the era’s embrace of Conceptual Art, Minimalism, Land Art, and Performance Art. The ’70s were a time of bold, individual expression, yet the period also saw the professionalization of ceramics and its increasing respect in the fine art world.
Join us to explore these pivotal moments at the intersection of art and culture.
