Friday, May 2: Feats of Clay
Experience the Energy of Feats of Clay
Join us for one of Central New York’s most spirited and creative student events—Feats of Clay, now in its 36th year. This beloved annual tradition brings together hundreds of high school students and educators from across the region for a day of friendly competition, artistic exploration, and hands-on teamwork centered around the ceramic arts.
Feats of Clay isn’t your typical art competition. From blindfolded wheel-throwing to high-stakes mug-making races, students are challenged to think on their feet, collaborate with their peers, and push the boundaries of their creativity—all in the name of fun, learning, and artistic growth.
This unforgettable day of community celebration highlights the transformative power of arts education, encouraging students to experiment, express themselves, and support one another. It’s a high-energy, joy-filled event that speaks volumes about what young artists can achieve when given the tools and space to create.
Event Highlights:
- Olympic-style ceramics challenges throughout the day
- Students from 40 regional high schools
- Community-wide celebration of creativity and collaboration
- A massive, ever-evolving trophy sculpted by students each year
Want a glimpse of the talent before the big day? Visit the Feats of Clay Student Exhibition, on view at the Everson through May 9, featuring select ceramic works by participating students.
Whether you’re a teacher, student, parent, or supporter of the arts, Feats of Clay is an inspiring reminder of why arts education matters—and how it continues to shape the creative future of our region.
