Experimental Lecture by Kite: What’s on the earth is in the stars; and what’s in the stars is on the earth

Thursday, April 21, 2022
6:30pm
Hosmer Auditorium

Join Everson Partners, Light Work UVP, for a lecture by multimedia artist Kite (Oglála Lakhóta), whose work explores how artificial intelligence reproduces the logics of coloniality, flattening land, people, and lifeworlds into objects of knowledge—data points to be extracted. Her latest piece, Makhóčheowápi Akézaptaŋ (Fifteen Maps), which explores sites of Indigenous displacement in New York State, was commissioned by Light Work for exhibition at UVP.

Beginning on April 21, Kite’s interactive video piece Fever Dreams will also be on view in the Everson Museum’s Malzman Gallery.
