Saturday, January 25: Vision Boarding Workshop
Free with Museum Admission
11:00am-2:00pm (drop-in)
Kick Off the New Year with Creativity and Inspiration
Join CNY Artist Initiative featured artist, Courtney Rile, for an all-ages interactive vision boarding workshop! Vision boarding is a creative practice designed to help participants clarify and express their goals and dreams through images, words, and symbols. A perfect exercise to kick off the new year, participants will create their own personal vision boards—collages made from magazine cutouts, photos, and other materials—that represent their aspirations in various areas of their lives, such as school, career, relationships, health, finances, and personal growth. Artist Courtney Rile will introduce her approach to this practice and share some examples of her own work along with tips to engage with this practice on your own. Each participant will have open time to create their own vision boards which they may take home at the end of the class.
This workshop will be offered as a “drop-in” class, free with museum admission – please come when you can, and feel free to arrive late or leave early. This workshop is offered for all ages and is family friendly.
Pre-registration is encouraged for planning purposes, but is not required.

From the Artist:
“I was initially skeptical of vision boarding. What’s the word? Woo-woo? Then one day I read a book where the author gave a very compelling testimonial and I finally decided to give it a try. Why not, right? It turns out I was blown away by how well manifesting worked for me. Now each year, I create a new vision board to check in with myself and imagine my year ahead. I value the time spent tuning into my subconscious flipping through magazines and cutting out bits and pieces I’m responding to, then organizing the cut out images and words and gluing them to cardboard like a mood board for my life. Really, you could apply this tool to any creative project. If nothing else, I love having some open time to play and be creative. Kids who may be interested in participating are welcome to join too!”
