2026 Teaching Artist Cohort — Call for Applications

 

Calling all teaching artists!

The Everson Museum of Art seeks 5 talented, local, teaching artists to participate in our inaugural Teaching Artist Cohort. This cohort program is designed to support and amplify the work of our outstanding creative community by offering robust teaching opportunities, access to the Museum’s 3,000 sq. ft education center facilities, professional development support, and community building.

 

As a teaching artist cohort participant, you will be expected to:

  • Attend a training & orientation session in January 2026.
  • Plan and facilitate 5 studio art workshops between February – December 2026, with flexibility in scheduling, medium, and target audience.
  • Attend a mid-year reflection and professional development program for cohort participants.
  • Share feedback after each class to contribute to continuous improvement of programs.
  • Contribute to optional opportunities such as participation in social media and blog post features.

 

As a teaching artist cohort participant, you will receive:

  • $200 flat-rate honorarium paid per workshop* in exchange for an estimated 5hrs. of time for workshop preparation and facilitation. ($1,000 for 5 workshops across the calendar year, paid at the times of service).
    • *Workshop capacities and registration costs to participants may vary. Registration costs are determined and kept by the museum. Workshop capacities are determined in collaboration with the teaching artist, although workshop capacities are often 25 youth or adult participants. A flat rate honorarium paid to the teaching artist ensures reliable compensation regardless of class structure or cost.
  • $400 supply budget** for each workshop.
    • **Supply purchasing can be facilitated by the Museum or facilitated via itemized reimbursement. Standard supplies are readily available for use in workshops, and a standard supply list will be provided for reference at time of hire.
  • Training and orientation to the Museum and Danial Family Education Center.
  • Workshop marketing and registration management provided by the Museum.
  • A bio, headshot, and portfolio link featured on the 2026 Teaching Artist Cohort webpage.
  • Additional opportunities to be featured on social media and web channels.
  • Professional Development opportunities curated for cohort participants and a cohort community of support.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and class scope in collaboration with the Learning & Engagement team.

The Everson Museum of Art aims to support creative learning opportunities for learners with varied ages, abilities, and interests. Teaching experience with different age groups and across various mediums will be considered when selecting cohort participants to help ensure a range of workshop opportunities are available for community participation.
