Upcycling the Teenage Story – 2024 Everson Teen Arts Council Exhibition

The concept of teenagehood changes each generation and, like any other human experience, has personal and individual perspectives. The Everson Teen Arts Council curated works of art by local teenagers that reflect their personal firsthand experiences as modern-day teens. Common topics of conversation in the council derived from stigma, stereotypes, mental health, and how adults may view teens. Through self-awareness, teenagers have examined the effects of older generations and the impact they have on these common topics. Additionally, the idea of upcycling teenage identities through materials was another theme in discussion. The teens explored the questions of the effects of older generations and upcycling the teenage story.
