Everson Museum of Art Awards Scholarships for Summer Arts Camp in Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Everson Museum of Art has awarded nearly a dozen scholarships for their summer arts camp valued at more than $200.
Without a scholarship, parents would pay $224 per week for camp if they are Everson members, or $280 for nonmembers.
Every morning, campers put on “the young artists’ hat,” crafting art with painting, collage, sculpture and ceramics.
Patrice Gonzales, the museum’s director of learning and engagement, said the campers participating in this week’s session are encouraged to engage in problem solving and critical thinking through art.
“All of the campers are getting along really well,” Gonzales said. “They’re all really excited to be here.”
One group, ages 5 to 7, read a book featuring one craft and finish the half-day camp hands-on, engaging in activities and games led by the museum’s staff.
Older kids, ages 8 to 12, make their own creations inspired by the museum’s art exhibitions. Art educators provide materials and techniques to guide campers and help them grow their artistic skills.
