Everson Museum of Art to screen ‘Frozen,’ ‘Dirty Dancing’ in 2016 free summer film series

SYRACUSE, NY — The Everson Museum of Art announced the lineup for its 2016 Summer Film Under the Stars Series, featuring four movie screenings projected onto the facade of the museum building.
Each film will include pre-show activities and food trucks on the plaza. Screenings begin at dusk and guests can bring blankets and lawn chairs. All events are free and open to the public. The series is a partnership with the Urban Video Project.
Thursday, July 21 – Date night
“Dirty Dancing,” 1987, 100 min., PG-13. See the trailer below.
Before the film, learn the basics of salsa with dance instructor Roberto Perez, then tear up the dance floor of the museum plaza. Activities begin at 7 p.m.
Thursday, August 4 – Adventure Night
“Pirates of the Caribbean,” 2003, 143 min., PG-13. See the trailer below.
Before the film, see finalists from The 2016 Design Challenge: Creative WaterCRAFT launches their boats in the fountain. Reggae band Root Shock will perform live. Activities begin at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 18 – Family Night

Kids can join in movie-inspired art activities and more. Before the film, watch short stop-motion animations created by students in Art Blast! Summer Art Camp. Activities begin at 7:30 p.m.
