Poetry is language at its most distilled and powerful.
—Rita Dove

In the first four weeks of Salty Spring Poets Club, as we dub,
we’ll pour language into poetic forms: sonnet! Haiku!

Calibrating language with power and intent, breaking
boundaries, breaking norms, it’ll get really intense!

Each meeting, we’ll read poems written by living poets
and write our own poems, don’t you know it!

Using the Everson’s permanent collection and rotating exhibitions,
we’ll write in response to artworks and cast away our inhibitions!

At the end of the month, we’ll perform for loved ones and peers,
producing a portfolio of four poems for all readers and seers.
