Kenny Harris creates works that examine the cultural and psychological connectivity of mythology through whimsical, graphic, and figurative forms. An amalgamation of the words “envision” and “vivarium” (a collection of living beings for the purpose of observation), Envisivivarium features works from Harris’s “Imagimenagerie” series, which explores the universality of belief systems around the world through stark black and white figural drawings made into paper sculptures. Amassed together on shelves in sometimes overwhelming numbers, the sculptures address the diversity and ingenuity of the human mind.
Harris is one of the artists selected as part of the CNY Artist Initiative, a competitive program that highlights the multi-faceted talents of CNY artists.
